Who Else Wants A Happy Marriage?
Author:
Saleem Rana
You don't realize it, but in the next few minutes, you're going
to rekindle your passion for your spouse.
Remember that first date? How long ago was it? I know you can
remember...go back there now. I want you to remember
something...the butterflies in your stomach, the magic, the
awkwardness, and that rush of anticipation.
Did you get nervous? Did you preen yourself before the mirror
for hours before the appointed time? Did your heart beat faster
when you first saw him or her coming through the restaurant door
or sitting at a table waiting for you as you rushed in late.
Why were you nervous?
Isn't it because that meeting was special? You wanted everything
to turn out right. You wanted to be right for the other person.
You anticipated a magical future.
What happened before that date? What kind of person were you?
What kind of person did you want to meet? And how did you feel
when you first saw him or her?
Now plunge right into the moments of that first date. Do you
remember how he or she looked at you? Do you remember exchanging
meaningful glances? Do you remember the smile, the motion of the
hand, and the tilt of the head? What did you talk about on that
first date? How did you feel?
What happened after the date? Where did you go? What did you do?
Can you recall that burst of happiness? When did it occur?
Do you remember the silences, the jokes, the special music, and
the magical places?
How long did your romance last?
How do you feel right now? Is the magic still there? Has it
faded away?
If you're like me, you want the magic to make a come-back.
Now, it's time to do something special. Ask your spouse out on a
date. And during your date, ask him or her the questions that
you've just finished answering. See if something magical might
happen again.

| Great Relationship Problem Solving Technique |
| This is one of my all time favourite problem solving techniques, and I use it on a regular basis with clients who find it hard to get along with other people. But really, the technique can be applied to any problem at all, not just the ones that are about relationships. If you’re going around in circles with a relationship problem, it can really help to step back and break the problem down into groups. Here’s how to do it: First, think of a small problem you are having in your life right now. Don’t try to tackle anything too big just yet, just get used to using this technique and then when you get more skilled at it you can try it with some larger problems. The idea is to separate your problem into three groups. GROUP ONE: Parts of the Problem That Come From Other People Write down all the parts of this particular problem that are brought to it by other people. Now, I know it’s tempting to lump all of the parts into this group, because it’s so easy to blame others for what is... |
